Appearance and filling of traditional Chinese dumplings
Jiao-Tzu looks like Russian dumplings and they are more close to those dumplings to which we are used to. Jiao-Tzu is sculpted in the form of a crescent and filled with fillings of meat, poultry and seafood. These dumplings are also made with vegetable and mushroom fillings. They cook Jiao-tzu for steam or boil in water, and sometimes fried and poured with boiling water.
Another famous type of dumplings in China is Vontona. This is a traditional New Year’s dish. In appearance, Vontons are more like Georgian khinkali – cast -blind bags of dough with filling. Unlike Jiao-Tzu, Vontons are most often boiled in the broth and served with it. In this sense, they resemble an Uzbek chuchvar.
