The American General Motors automobile giant has denied all the last rumors about the sale of Opel, the owner of which it is. For at least 10 years the German brand will be managed by an American company. Information about this was voiced by the press secretary of the company Stefan Weinmann.
Information agencies in Europe have already published information several times that GM plans to get rid of quite such a problem asset. The new owners of Opel, according to the assurances of journalists, could become one of the leaders of the German automobile industry – Volkswagen, as well as several Chinese companies and even a “nameless” investment fund from Dubai.
It is worth noting that even Martin Wintercorn, the head of the Volkswagen concern, expressed interest about the further fate of Opel, who, back in the early summer of 2011, said that from his point of view, if General Motors still decide to sell the company, then most likely new The owners will become Chinese giants. As in the case of the liquidation of the Swedish Saab, Americans and companies of Europe are not ready to give the capacity of a German company to owners from China.
Information from the press service of General Motors received back in August 2011, when the concern formulated the Opel Development Strategy.
Most likely, this situation is beneficial to some competitors of General Motors and in particular Opel, so rumors about the sale of the company will be published in online magazines and newspapers for a long time. This, in turn, provokes a certain decline in interest in the company’s cars and investors, which is beneficial to competitors.
