The German Technical Center Edag present at the Geneva Motor Show a new version of its developments in the Light Car project. The concept is a vision of the company of the base of the future mass electric car, which is based on a light spatial frame.
The new concept is the basis for the car from small to medium size. The purpose of this project is to show that an electric car with complete insanity with batteries on board can weigh within 1200 kg and at the same time overcome distances at least 150 km. Its weight is 35 kg less than Tesla Roadster and as much as 265 kg less than Mini E.
“The system of electric motors gives developers the opportunity for a huge potential for the implementation of new ideas and concepts. Thus, we will be able to rather convince people that the future is behind electric cars, ”says EDAG representative Yorg Olsen. – The next stage of our work will be the construction of the running concept, which could fully reveal the potential of electric motors and our latest developments ”.
One feature of the concept already attracts attention – this is its lightweight frame. As stated in the official release, “it will have a wide range of modifications with minimal financial costs”. Olsen added: “We are talking about innovative production, which will take into account all the shortcomings of the previous electric vehicles”.
The first Edag Light Concept debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in 2009. When creating it, basalt and carbon fiber were used, as well as aluminum. The car was equipped with lithium-ion batteries and LED optics.
