The Las Vegas startup Boxabl claims that it can reduce construction costs by 50%. The project is based on the concept of modular construction of buildings from universal building blocks – patented by the company.
Each block will be a structure measuring 6×12 m and 2.9 meters high. This block can be assembled as a separate structure or connected to other blocks, the number of which is not limited.
The walls of the block will be made of pressed panels coated with magnesium oxide, which makes the structure fireproof, waterproof and resistant to mold. The weight of one block will vary from 3.5 to 4.5 tons. The process of transporting the block is also a patented invention of the company – at the production site, the block is folded like a house of cards, and then laid out in reverse order at the construction site. Such technology reduces the cost of delivery of building materials and allows them to be delivered to hard-to-reach corners of the country.
